GujRERA: a guide for builders in Gujarat
Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority regulates real-estate projects in Gujarat. Here is what it means for your projects and your sales team.
The authority
Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority (GujRERA). Official website.
What to know
- Projects need RERA registration before any advertising, booking or sale (Section 3); the Act exempts projects where the land is 500 sq m or less, or there are 8 apartments or fewer.
- GujRERA expects quarterly progress reports (QPRs) on its portal shortly after each quarter closes and penalises late filing; check the latest GujRERA circular for the current late fee.
- 70% of money collected from allottees must sit in a separate bank account and be withdrawn only in proportion to construction progress, certified by an engineer, architect and chartered accountant (Section 4(2)(l)(D)).
- Real estate agents and channel partners must register with the authority before facilitating any sale (Section 9).
Rules and fees change. Check the authority's website or your legal adviser before you act. Last reviewed 1 October 2026.
