Commencement certificate (CC)
Permission from the local planning authority to start construction as per the approved plan. Usually issued in stages, often up to plinth first.
Also called: CC, construction permit
A commencement certificate is the local authority's permission to begin construction on an approved plan. Many municipal bodies issue it in stages, for example up to plinth, then further floors as conditions are met.
Buyers and their banks check the CC. Lenders often ask for it before sanctioning a home loan in an under-construction project. Keep scanned copies ready to share, and know which floors the current CC covers.
Watch outIn some cities CC also abbreviates completion certificate. Spell it out in buyer communication to avoid confusion.
